Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Bamidele Aiyenugba has said he remains confident that his Israeli club, Hapoel Ashkelon can survive the drop despite their loss over the weekend to Hapoel Akko.
Aiyenugba and his team fell 2-0 at home in the playoffs, a situation that leaves them struggling to remain in the Israeli top flight next season.
But the former Enyimba shot-stopper  exclusively from his base, that he and his teammates are working round the clock to ensure their safety in the league.
“It was a very painful loss for us because I felt we should have done better, but you know if you don’t score you can’t win a game. But I’m confident we can take a few positives from the game and improve in the next match,” Aiyenugba posited.
The former Eagles’ number two further reiterated his desire to return to the national team, insisting he still has a lot to offer the country.
“I am always ready to play for my country anytime I am called upon. Going to the world cup will be an amazing feat for me, but for now, I want to focus on survival with Hapoel and then see what will happen after then, ” Aiyenugba concluded.
Hapoel Ashkelon is currently 7th in the playoffs with 21 points from 30 games, four points behind Ashdod.
