Super Eagles’ striker, Henry Onyekuru scored two goals in training on Monday as he returned from a long injury layoff, damiadenuga.com report.
It was the former KAS Eupen striker’s first training with the team since December and he showed flashes of his former self even as he hopes to be available for selection ahead of their midweek clash against Standard Liege.
The on-loan Everton attacker, who returned to Anderlecht a fortnight ago, and has been on individual training in a bid to recover fully to help his side to the league title via the playoffs, told AOIFootball.com exclusively that his full return is now just days away.
“I have been training individually for some weeks now and my progress has been awesome. The coach has told me I will be part of the first team training session after the game against Club Brugge, so by Monday, I will see how it goes for me,” Onyekuru said.
The goal poacher further said that he could make the bench for the midweek clash against Standard Liege if all things go well for him.
“Hopefully, if I am able to convince the coach and the medical team of my full fitness, maybe the game against Standard Liege will be the right moment for me to return to the pitch, but I am relaxed and taking it gently,” Onyekuru concluded.
